Artist In Focus

In this continuation of the Artist in Focus series, Lynda will be speaking about her influences, her struggles and her Sky and Water series

Lynda Minter trained as a sculptor at St. Martins. Then, in the last few years, she taught herself to paint by dipping into such books as “The Complete Guide to Painting and Drawing Techniques and Materials” by the late Colin Hayes, which she describes as “an invaluable reference book for every artist” as well as “good bedtime reading!”

In this continuation of the Artist in Focus series, Lynda will be speaking with Jeremy Rewse-Davies about her influences, her struggles in being original and her Sky and Water series, which was inspired by Turner and other Masters. Lynda feels that the mind stores images and that by looking at the works of great artists their strengths will be unconsciously reflected in one’s own work. She also feels it is important to allow the paint to take over, as the artist’s experiences and passions will naturally come through.

Jeremy Rewse Davies trained as a graphic designer but his working life has encompassed most design disciplines (what Terence Conran calls intelligent drifting). He was for fourteen years an art director in television and films before starting a design company and working in commercial interiors. In addition, he has written, lectured and broadcast

extensively on design and communications and has published two books on design and architecture. He is past President of the Chartered Society of Designers, former Director of Design for London Transport and was a member of the board of London Transport Advertising and London Transport Museum. He currently serves on the Board here at the Club.

Dinner is not included for this event but is à la carte in the Dining Room, as usual. Please place your reservation at Reception. No other
booking is necessary.
